We are hosting Christmas dinner this year, and we want it to be non-traditional (and delicious). My husband is going to do steak and lobster tails - and I am in charge of appetizers, sides, salad, soup and desert.
Let the brainstorming begin.
Herb Crusted Beef with Dijon (not for this dinner, but want to try this later)

UPDATE:
Here is what I went with:
Kale salad with pomegranates, feta, cucumber, green onion with a balsamic dressing (2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar, 1 tsp honey, salt & pepper to taste)
Frizzled Green Beans, Mushroom and Onion ** SO GOOD, made twice on the break**
Whipped mashed potatoes w/ herb and garlic cream cheese & sour cream
Lobster tail and steak
For desert we used hot chocolate bomb moulds to make white chocolate half circle shells (something my little loved helping me make). I then whipped up some vanilla mousse which I put inside the bombs and froze them (which allowed me too make them a day ahead). I served these white chocolate mousse bombs on a small brownie that was made in the bottom 1/3rd of a muffin tin, and added a dollop of raspberry jam (homemade) beneath the brownie. I called it a "snowball fight gone wrong".
It was delicious and fun to prep and make for our guests (although it was A LOT of food - I am still full).
